Prayer Need

We had our first sleep in our new house last night. It was a great feeling and we all slept great (in spite of using foam mattresses on the floor). We are almost all moved in, and we can’t wait until this whole process comes to an end! Thank you for praying for us during those uncertain house building days, when we weren’t sure if we’d have enough nails, wood or food J We’re thankful to have completed the major tasks involved in letting us now sleep comfortably at HOME.

We’re happy to give news on the progress of our house, however our main purpose in writing this short update is to inform you that we are facing a very serious financial shortage based upon the building, outfitting, and huge air transport costs involved in moving into Tobo. We are also under pressure to meet some deadlines or we will be facing some tax liabilities that will only increase our debt. We realize that many of you have given very sacrificially to meet our needs and there are no words to express how thankful we are for that. We are asking that you please pray for the remainder of our financial needs in order to keep us here serving the Lord among the Tobo people. We serve a great God, whose desire is to care for and meet the needs of His children. Thanks for standing in the gap for us!

House Building in Full Swing!

Wow, where do we start? Well, first of all we haven’t had email for the last month here in Tobo. It’s finally working so we apologize for not keeping you updated regularly. We really would’ve liked to send pictures of the progress of our house along the way.

As you know, we moved into Tobo on October 2nd and just a month later our house is nearly ready to move in to! We had a builder and his family come for 3 weeks and get the framing done. Then a few weeks ago we had 4 guys (missionary friends here in PNG) come and do our electrical, cupboards, closets, doors, etc and our partner did our plumbing. They got SO much done and it looks great. Right now we are sanding the wood floors and after we put polyurethane on them we’ll be ready to move in! Things went very smoothly and we are so grateful for all the help we got.

For the next month or so we will be finishing up projects in the house and trying to get settled in to our OWN house. It is amazing to think we’re actually in our last transition and we’ll be here for a while. No more moves for quite a long time!!

The kids are doing great adjusting to bush life. They are actually doing too well… coming home many days wet and muddy, getting bit by bugs they’re too willing to pick up, getting stuck in trees, falling in streams… but learning to be lights to their new Tobo friends. Please pray for continued good health and safety for them.

Please pray for our relationships with the Tobo people, that we will be willing to take the time necessary to build friendships with them that will result in discipleship opportunities. Since being here we see even more of a need for discipleship in the lives of the believers. There are many women who are coming faithfully to the teaching and prayer meetings, but very few men. We will also soon be setting a date for the believers to be baptized. Already they are experiencing persecution. Many women have unbelieving husbands who are threatening to abuse them if they get baptized. Please pray for the Tobo believers, that the men will rise up and that this persecution will cause the church to grow.

Thank you for getting us here through giving and praying. We praise the Lord for His provision for a comfy house so we can remain in ministry here among the Tobo. We would love to hear from you!

Your hands and feet to the Tobo people,
Jason, Nisae, Kadynn, Judah & Eden
