| The teaching here in Dapiliu village is still going strong. Over the past few weeks we have taught on Noah, the tower of Babel, Joseph, the Israelites in captivity in Egypt, and the exodus and how God looked after his people in the wilderness. Even though the numbers at the teaching remain low our spirits remain high as we see how our great and mighty God is faithfully at work in the lives of the two families that have been coming. Yesterday after the meeting Unex said “wow… I don’t know what to say, this talk is really clear in my insides. I used to be a critic of all the different kinds of talks and thinking around and I would examine every talk. I would always find that those talks were false but this talk you are teaching me, I am sitting here every day in the meeting then at night I read what we learned about and it is all true and it is becoming clearer and clearer to me! Thank you teachers so much for taking the time every day to walk over here and teach us this big thing.” Yesterday we taught on the giving of the law and its purpose for us. To demonstrate this I came to the meeting with a dirty face. Everyone told me that my face was dirty, but I told them that I didn’t have a mirror. Finally someone gave me one and I saw my filthy face and told them that if I didn’t have a mirror I would have never known how dirty my face was. We then taught them that God’s Law is just like this mirror, it was given to us to show us our sinful condition and that only God could do something to change that. We also taught that just like Adam and Eve only sinned once and were separated from God we too have all broken God’s law and deserve our punishment. Even if we break one of God’s laws it’s like we have broken all of them - we still are separated from our creator. To help them understand this we made a small fire and dangled a paper man on a string over the top of it. The string had knots for all ten laws on it. I told them that if they ever had broken any of these laws it’s like they had broken all of them and would receive their punishment. I then cut the string at one of the knots and the paper man fell into the fire and burned. At the end of the lesson I asked Unex what he thought and he told me “this talk about God’s law is really big and heavy and it’s making me think about my own life, how I live, and so I’m just sitting here thinking about that.” Pray for him and the others that they would see that they are guilty before God, they have broken God’s law and only God’s promised redeemer can save them. In other news from Tobo… Nisae has a friend from the States coming next week to teach the kids. Thank you for all your prayers concerning this. It has been in the makings for about a year now so it’s neat to see the Lord working all the details out for her trip. She is still somewhat lacking in finances for her 3 month stay here in Tobo so if you’d like to give towards her ministry you can send to the address at the bottom and label it “for Lynell Riegsecker”. Nisae is excited for the opportunity to dive more deeply into language learning and discipling the ladies here in Tobo! Thank you all so much for your prayers, notes of encouragement, and sacrificial giving. You are playing a huge part not only in our lives, but in the lives of the Tobo people as well.
