turn of events

Prayerful friends and family,

We’d just like to update you on some unexpected GOOD news we had this week…

When we arrived at the hospital in Mt. Hagen to get checked in for Jason’s surgery, there were 2 doctors who examined Jason.  One was a hernia specialist from the States just there for 3 weeks!  Together the doctors determined that Jason will NOT need surgery.  We both felt very good about this and very thankful that we did not go out of the country.  Jason’s pain comes and goes but should be manageable, and the doctors were able to explain more about what to look for that may indicate that we need to seek more medical help.  We’re thankful for the way the Lord worked everything out, and had the specialist there so that we would know for sure that this was the best decision.  Thank you so much for praying!  Looks like his recovery won’t be so long after all J.

We also had a little unexpected BAD news…

Two weeks ago Eden had an accident on the trampoline where she came down on her right hand.  Several days later we had it x-rayed and the local doctor in Madang determined it was not broken.  Over a week later it was still bothering her so we had it x-rayed again at our mission clinic.  This x-ray showed that there is indeed a small fracture on her wrist!  She has a cast for the week that will be cut off and replaced with a splint this week before we fly into the bush.

Although there seems to have been many ups and downs in our circumstances lately that sure have taken us by surprise, we are thankful that the Lord has known all about them and He remains our constant and steady rock where we can go, whatever our circumstances.

Thank you for your continued prayers!  We will update you when we are safe and sound in Tobo at the end of the week.

Chartered Waters [Williamson Update]

As we enter into some unchartered waters for our family in the next weeks, it gives us peace knowing that “He charts the path ahead of us and tells us when to stop and rest”.  (Ps 139) The Lord has gone before us.

We fly out tomorrow to a hospital an hour away where Jason will have his surgery.  We’ll stay there 3 days afterwards to make sure there’s no complications, and then he will finish his recovery for a week at our mission headquarters where we have a doctor to take care of the follow up.  We would appreciate your prayers for the surgery and a quick recovery, for no complications or infection following the procedure.  We also want to praise the Lord that all of our upcoming expenses for the surgery and flights have already been covered by several of our supporters!

The kids will kick off their school year with a  few days at the Christian Academy located there and then if all goes well we will fly back into Tobo around August 19th, get resettled and resume school & ministry.

If you would, please take a minute to remember our following prayer requests:

·         Jason’s surgery

·         Our co-workers, the Mankins, returning to PNG at the end of the month

·         God-given direction for the Tobo church, focused on fewer and equipping them to lead others

·         I (Nisae) will be setting language aside and primarily focusing on the kids’ schooling

·         That we will remain close to the Lord, relying on His strength, and knowing His heart

“Let your unfailing love be with us Lord, even as we put our hope in you.”  (Ps 44) As we enter back into the battlefield in Tobo, we have been reminded that our hope is in the Lord!  It should not be in our ability, in the church there, in the growth or lack of, in the people’s response or rejection of us or God’s Word.   Our hope is in the Lord and His love will never fail us or abandon us!  His love constrains us- holds us together & keeps us there. (2 Cor 5:14)

Thank you for your continued prayers & support!

Jason & Nisae
